Curacao Legal Portal has composed a list of the Top 25 Law firms of the Dutch Caribbean and Aruba and Suriname for 2010, as well as the Top 10 Law firms of the relevant seperate Dutch Caribbean jurisdictions, being Curacao, Aruba, St Maarten and Bonaire and of Suriname (by number of lawyers).
New law firm Navarro & Cheri

Last week a new law firm was established on Curacao: Navarro & Cheri Attorneys at law and Advisors. Partners are attorney Nelson Navarro, former leader of political party Forsa Kòrsou, and lawyer Esther Cheri, former head of the Lieutenant Governor's Office.

THE HAGUE--Member of Dutch Parliament (MP) Ronald van Raak of the Socialist Party (SP) said that the legal gap to use extraordinary investigative methods in Antillean and Aruban criminal cases once again shows that Curaçao and St. Maarten are not ready to assume country status.

AMSTERDAM - Dutch attorney at law Gerard Spong is predicting that the Public Prosecutor's Offices in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba will encounter great difficulties in a number of large criminal cases. This has to do with the limited legal possibilities to use extraordinary investigative methods, such as telephone tapping.

Er zijn 34 full time rechters voor de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba. Daarvan wordt ongeveer tweederde ‘ingevlogen’ vanuit Nederland. Die Nederlandse rechters worden uitgezonden voor een beperkte periode van minimaal drie en maximaal vijf jaar.
New Central Bank has reputation risk

During the presentation of the annual report on 2009 by Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles, President-Director Emsley Tromp emphasised that the new Central Bank, which the future countries Curaçao and St. Maarten will have jointly, must be provided with all essentials to function optimally.

Curaçao's General Affairs Commissioner Zita Jesus-Leito (PAR) has confirmed that the Caribbean Guilder, which is to become the currency of the new countries Curaçao and St. Maarten, will not be in circulation until six to nine months from now.

Upper Chamber approves National Laws

THE HAGUE — The Upper Chamber unanimously approved the National Laws today that were necessary for the new status of the Antilles per October 10th 2010, including the National Law for the Amendment of the Statute and the National Law that enables the Order of National Council (AMvRB). The SP was the only party who had objected the law for financial supervision.
