Former IMF man Bob Traa nominated as Central Bank President

WILLEMSTAD--Former Dutch diplomat of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Bob Traa (61) is candidate to become the new President-director of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS).
 
Traa was proposed by the Supervisory Board as a candidate and must still undergo the necessary screening process in both shareholder countries of the monetary union. His nomination has meanwhile been approved to by the government of Curaçao, while St. Maarten was still to follow.
 
If all goes well, Traa will be appointed in the next month or two. He holds a PhD in Economics from University of Oregon.
 
The financial expert worked at the IMF for more than 25 years on macroeconomic policy issues such as the growth potential and prospects of nations, fiscal and monetary policy, banks, exchange rates, balance of payments policy and sustainability.
 
He also has extensive work experience in Latin America, the Caribbean, North America and Europe. Although of Dutch nationality, Traa did not live in the Netherlands after his studies and has been residing in the US for more than 40 years.
