Lawyer Freeke Kunst passed away at age 45

AMSTERDAM/KRALENDIJK - On Sunday attorney Freeke Rijna-Kunst passed away in Amsterdam at the age of 45.
Although it was known that she had been fighting against cancer for quite some time, her passing away yesterday came as a shock to many people.
Freeke was married to Island Governor of Bonaire Edison Rijna.
She was a well-known and respected lawyer on Curacao, Bonaire and the other islands, and specialist in aviation (airport) and maritime law. She also was partner of the young law firm OX & WOLF legal partners, together with Carine Jänsch, Sabine Altena, Willemieke Princée and Karina Keizer.
Before OX & WOLF was established in September 2015, Freeke Kunst was a lawyer at Curacao Airport Partners and at law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne.
Throughout the years Freeke has been speaker at multiple international shipping conferences of IBA and Informa. Among numerous other publications she was a contributor to Kluwer’s Maritime Law Handbook, Lloyd’s List, Tradewinds. She was also on the board of the Maritime Disciplinary Court of Curaçao and lectured a transport law masters course for several years at the University of the Netherlands Antilles.
