VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne appoints new management

As of 1 October 2014 law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne has a new executive committee. Focco Lunsingh Scheurleer will act as managing partner, forming an executive committee together with Mayesi Hammoud.
 
Esther Jansen already was a member of the management as chief financial officer.
 
 
The trio will be leading the organization with seventy employees in five locations. 
 
Lunsingh Scheurleer and Hammoud take over from Frank Kunneman, who was managing partner for fifteen years. Frank, who led the firm to its current leading market position in the region, will now focus on the specialized Governance, Risk & Compliance team launched earlier this year. 
 
Forty-four year old Focco Lunsingh Scheurleer is attorney at law since 1995. He started his career in the Netherlands. Since 2000, Focco is based on Curacao and practices in the region. In 2004, he made partner. Focco assists clients in capital markets transactions and corporate law. Outside the legal profession, Focco was board member of the Curacao International Financial Services Association, part-time lecturer in international and corporate law at the UoC, and he is the past president of Rotary Club Willemstad. 
 
Mayesi Hammoud started her career as an attorney at law at the firm in 2003 and made partner in 2012. She has a general commercial practice, serving clients in the private and public sector. Mayesi, a Curacao native, is a member of the Social Economic Council (SER) and an alternate member of the Board of Trustees for Attorneys at Law. 
 
 
Both attorneys will continue to practice in full. Next to legal expertise, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is praised for its practical knowledge of the client sectors that firm serves, for instance by independent legal publisher Chambers & Partners.

Met ingang van 1 oktober 2014 heeft advocatenkantoor VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne een nieuw dagelijks bestuur. Nieuwe bestuursleden zijn Focco Lunsingh Scheurleer (managing partner) en Mayesi Hammoud (bestuurder). Samen met zittend bestuurslid en chief financial officer Esther Jansen zullen zij de organisatie met zeventig werknemers op vijf locaties aansturen.
 
Lunsingh Scheurleer en Hammoud nemen de taken over van Frank Kunneman. Kunneman is vijftien jaar managing partner geweest en leidde het kantoor naar de huidige, leidende marktpositie in de regio. Frank zal zich nu vooral gaan richten op het eerder dit jaar gelanceerde team in Governance, Risk & Compliance.
 
Focco Lunsingh Scheurleer is 44 jaar oud en advocaat sinds 1995; eerst in Nederland en vanaf 2000 op Curaçao. In 2004 werd hij partner in het kantoor. Hij assisteert cliënten in kapitaalmarkttransacties en ondernemingsrecht. Buiten de advocatuur was Focco bestuurslid van de Curaçao International Financial Services Association, parttime docent internationaal privaatrecht en ondernemingsrecht aan de UoC en voorzitter van Rotary Club Willemstad.
 
Mayesi Hammoud begon haar loopbaan als advocaat bij het kantoor in 2003, is sinds 2012 partner en voert een algemene praktijk. Zij bedient cliënten in de private en publieke sector en is sociaal-maatschappelijk zeer actief op haar geboorte-eiland Curaçao, onder andere als lid van de Sociaal Economische Raad en als plaatsvervangend lid van de Raad van Toezicht voor de advocatuur.
 
Door de duorol kunnen beide advocaten hun huidige praktijk blijven voeren. Naast de juridische expertise, wordt VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne onder meer door onafhankelijke juridische uitgever Chambers & Partners geprezen om de praktische kennis van de branches die het kantoor bedient. Lunsingh Scheurleer: “Frank heeft onze organisatie door een enorme ontwikkeling geleid waarvoor wij hem allen zeer dankbaar zijn. Mayesi en ik mogen samen met Esther Jansen het fantastische team dat onze organisatie vormt, aansturen.
