Edison Rijna officially sworn in on 22 August

KRALENDIJK — Edison Rijna, whom the Council of Ministers had recently appointed lieutenant governor of the Public Body Bonaire, will be officially sworn in on August 22nd this year during a special session of the Island Council.
 
The Communication Dept. of the Public Body Bonaire announced this. According to the Communication Dept., Rijna particularly has a positive view on the development of the island and special attention for youngsters. He stands by integrity, honesty and sincerity.
 
The new lieutenant governor, who has been holding that position since March 1st 2013 as successor of Lydia Emerencia, was born on July 7th 1967 on the island of a Bonairean family. He is married to lawyer Freeke Kunst and has two children, a daughter and a son.
 
Rijna attended the public primary school Kolegio Reina Beatrix and later on the Comprehensive School Bonaire (SGB). He completed his follow-up courses in the banking sector on Curaçao and in the Netherlands. In this sector he held various positions.
 
In 2011 he returned to his native island together with his family where he founded a recycling company together with a business partner. That company is now being run by his business partner during his term of office as lieutenant governor.
