Two new deputy judges appointed

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Hendrich Seferina and educator Stanley Hodge have been nominated for the positions of deputy judges at the Joint Court of Justice. Seferina and Hodge were recommended for appointment by Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ivo Opstelten and will be employed at the Court of First Instance in St. Maarten.
 
Seferina was born in 1975 and has built himself a career as a lawyer. He has been appointed several times since 2003 as a curator in bankruptcies, both in the Netherlands and in St. Maarten.
 
Born in 1946, Hodge is no lawyer, but has been working in the field of education as a teacher, school principal and Department of Education Inspector and Director. He also was Second Acting Lt. Governor for several years.

Lawyer Roeland Zwanikken considers legal action against ABN AMRO Bank

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Roeland Zwanikken at St. Maarten’s BZSE law office is considering legal action against the intention of the Dutch ABN AMRO Bank to close the bank accounts of its clients in the Dutch Caribbean.
