Job fair Passaat bigger again
- May 07, 2010 6:40 AM
The Passaat Recruitment Days 2010 will exceed those of 2006 and 2008 in every respect.
Dozens of companies and organizations from Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire and St. Maarten will present themselves to scholarship students studying in the Netherlands and other high potentials in Rotterdam on May 16. Striking compared to the previous times is the St. Maarten contribution. This has everything to do with the new status the island hopes to get on October 10. Many highly educated staff are needed for the development of the country and the island hopes to find them at the Passaat Recruitment Days.
Reason why the Island Territory of St. Maarten and the local Chamber of Commerce, apart from the Foundation “Stichting Overheidsaccountantsbureau” (“Soab”), are also main sponsors of the event this year.
Inter alia KPMG, the Central Banks of the Antilles and Aruba, BDO, the Foundation “Stichting Belasting Accountantsbureau”, SQL Integrator, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UTS, HBN Law, Ennia, the Coast Guard, Ernst & Young, Spigthoff Attorneys at Law, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, MCB Bank, Chata, Curaçao Tourist Bureau, Kooyman, Citco, Oduber Hospital, Ay Software Development, “Ban Boneiru Bèk”, Deloitte Aruba, Bearing Point, Insular Territory of Curaçao, Aruba Marriott and the “Antillenhuis” are also among the participants.
In the run-up to the event, a television debate will take place on Wednesday May 12 by the title “Blijf je in NL of ga je terug” (Will you stay in the Netherlands or will you return) in cooperation with the “Wereldomroep” (Radio Netherlands International). The recording hereof will be broadcast in the week of May 18 by TeleCuraçao and ATV.
The Passaat Recruitment Days start on Saturday, May 16, with a symposium on the political changes. The job fair itself is also on May 16 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Parallel to it, several of the participating organizations organize workshops. The following Sunday has been reserved entirely for job interviews.
The Passaat Recruitment Days have been named after the organizing Antilles and Aruban student association Passaat. The symposium and the fair will be visited by prime-minister Emily de Jongh-Elhage, according to Passaat. However, this could not be confirmed as yet yesterday.
