PHILIPSBURG--Consumers who purchased the Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey that have double labels (English and Chinese) need not worry about the authenticity or safety of the beverage.

 

The Inspectorate of Health, which conducted an investigation into the double labels, has found that the drink is authentic and according to the company that produces them, also safe.

 

Inspector General Dr. Earl Best told The Daily Herald on Sunday that the two labels are provided by the Arizona company themselves. “The labels are destined for two different markets: the English-speaking and the Chinese-speaking market. There is no issue of counterfeiting the Arizona Company,” Best said. “The label (English) is in compliance with the law and the product is safe to drink according to Arizona.”

 

Consumers raised the alarm recently after purchasing the drink locally and finding that it had double labels: a label in Chinese imprinted on the can and a second label in English wrapped over the first. Several consumers complained about purchasing the Green Tea and later discovering a second label on the can that can easily be peeled away.

 

The consumers’ concern led to the investigation by the inspectorate.
