Desiree Lai-Promes (45) was elected by Parliament as the new registrar of the national parliament. Lai Promes was appointed as substitute-registrar in February of 2006 and was the official registrar since August.
The nomination of Lai-Promes was unanimously approved by all the parliament-members present. In a first reaction she said that she has learned a lot as substitute-registrar. "I gained a lot of experience. I thank my colleagues for everything I have achieved. I have a managerial position, but we do everything together."
There is not much to change, now that Promes is officially appointed as registrar; just the title. Lai-Promes was born on 15 June, 1963. She has completed the following education: hbo-judicial assistant; law at the UNA, and she went to the administrators' academy; apprentice at the registrars' department of the Upper and Lower House.
