Upper House wants to inspect the political process during their visit

Following on the semi-annual parliamentary Deliberation Kingdom Relations in Aruba, an Upper House delegation will pay all the islands of the Neth.Antilles a working visit from January 10 through 19. They do this because the process of the political renewal in 2009 enters a new parliamentary phase.
According to expectations, enactments regarding the new political position of the BES-islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba) are considered in the Upper House, said a spokesperson of the Upper House.
Through conversations with the local administrators, representatives of the people, police and the Public Prosecutor, and representatives of o social organizations, the Upper House-members want to get a better perception in the progress of the process of political renewal in the separate islands.
The parliament-members like to get information on the specific problems of the population on the separate islands and the possibilities for further development. The delegation also hopes the come in contact with the people and exchange thoughts with them about the future of the islands.
They visit Curacao on January 12th, Bonaire on the 13th, St. Maarten on the 14th, Saba on the 15th, and St. Eustatius on the 16th. Members of the delegation are M. Linthorst (PvdA, delegation leader), S. van Bijsterveld (CDA), F. van Kappen (VVD), A. Quik-Schuijt (SP), E. Lagerwerf-Vergunst (CU), J. Laurier (GroenLinks), A. Schouw (D66), and H. ten Hoeve (OSF).
