Changes to electoral laws sent to Advisory Council

PHILIPSBURG--Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams as Minister of General Affairs has submitted to the Advisory Council draft changes to electoral laws.
 
The first change is to the law on registration and financing of political parties. The change to Article 15 of the law calls for potential candidates for election to issue declarations stating that they are in agreement with the party programme.
 
Another change is the move from only political parties without elected representatives in Parliament needing their party lists endorsed to having the lists of all political parties endorsed before they can contest a general election.
 
The electoral resolution also has been submitted for a change that will allow the black curtains to be removed from polling booths as requested by some parliamentarians.
