Corporate Governance course valued for interactivity and practical relevance

WILLEMSTAD - Last spring, law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne organized an introductory course on Corporate Governance in Bonaire. After enthusiastic response, the firm decided to offer a follow-up course in three sessions. The first two meetings have now taken place and could once more count on positive response by the high-level group of participants.

The follow-up course aims to offer directors practical tools to apply good governance efficiently in their own organizations. Given the reactions and evaluation, Frank Kunneman – who lectures the course – was successful in achieving that objective. Participants evaluated the meetings as practically oriented and focused on solutions. Moreover, they valued its interactive setup. The average score was a 8.5 on a 10-point scale.

John Soliano, Managing Director of the Bonaire Holding Maatschappij and a participant of the course: “At the Bonaire Holding Maatschappij, ‘good corporate governance’ is a key area of our policy. The case based approach of Frank Kunneman adds a dimension to the legal aspects of this topic. It is a versatile subject that demands an equal approach. Good governance is not just about rules and regulations, it’s a way of life”.

Prof. dr. Kunneman is managing partner of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne and a professor Civil Law at the University of the Dutch Antilles in Curacao. The follow-up course Corporate Governance closes with a third meeting on 30 September. In this session, the Code Corporate Governance will be the central theme. There is room for a few additional participants; information is available at VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne. The firm is currently working on similar courses for other islands within the Dutch Caribbean.
