Dutch Government Contributes 8 Million To Curaçao Justice System

WILLEMSTAD – Before leaving office at year’s end, former Minister of Justice Stanley Betrian and mr. Reginaldo Doran Director of Usona, signed an agreement for funding improvements to both the Curaçao Detention and Correctional Center and the Curaçao Police Corps.

 
The signatures were placed in the presence of Dutch representative Gerard van der Wulp
 
Through the agreement, the Dutch government contributes NAf 8 million to the Curaçao Justice system. The total price tag for the projects exceeds NAf 34 million.
 
The donated amount will help initiate the projects and is earmarked for funding staff, buildings, infrastructure (including IT equipment for the monitoring station and communication systems) and other operational items.
 
The Curaçao Police Corps project is scheduled be completed late next year. The Curaçao Detention andCorrection Center improvements are slated for completion by late 2015. Project managers of both the prison and the police corps projects are to report on developments every three months.
