Discrimination is discrimination

Homosexual association Fundashon Orguyo Kòrsou (Foko) considers the decision of the Netherlands to store the data of young Antilleans in a databank as discriminatory as the Antillean refusal to register the in the Netherlands contracted gay marriages.
“How is it possible that the Antilles protest against the racial Dutch measure to introduce a databank with young Antilleans’ information, as the discrimination of sexual minorities in own country are being defended with the argument that ‘it doesn’t belong to the Antillean culture’?” wonders Foko.
“Discrimination is discrimination”, says Foko, “and when you discriminate your own people, you have no right to protest against discrimination by others.”
Foko is confused about the fact that ‘modern Antillean politicians’ do not want to see the connection between racial discrimination and discrimination on sexual orientation. “There is little difference between the hurting and offensive statements to the address of the gay community from politicians like Omayra Leeflang, Anthony Godett, and Helmin Wiels, and the deathly silence around this subject matter kept by the more progressive politicians like Eunice Eisden and Nelson Navarro. As long as the Antillean politics refuse to see the gay marriage in the light of fundamental human rights, one cannot expect that the protest against the databank in the Netherlands is taken seriously”, says Foko.
