ORANJESTAD - For the first time, an in-house day for future lawyers was organized in Aruba. Law students of the University of Aruba took a look behind the scenes at the law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne in Aruba
Jeannot de Cuba gave the thirteen law students a presentation, the topic of which was 'What is a lawyer?'
Subsequently, the students received a case focused on private law. The students worked on the questions in teams under the supervision of the lawyers David Wever and Dirk Ormel. After this, the groups debated and reviewed legal issues. The enthusiasm of the participants showed that there were inspired future lawyers among them.
Partner Jeannot de Cuba: "We have always had a very good relationship with the University of Aruba and would like to continue this by means of this initiative. Next year, we will gladly open our doors again to the Aruban law students. We already were the first to do this earlier for Caribbean students in the Netherlands and in Curaçao."
Esther Gomes, master student: "I always thought that this was an office where only the top graduates ("Einstein's") could apply. This in-house day has made be aware of what the legal profession means, and this day was a very good addition to my studies. Next year, I will certainly stimulate other law students to participate in this day!"
