Ramiz wants a judgment on rectification

Nelson Ramiz, consultant for Dutch Antilles Express (DAE) and Eduard Heerenveen, member of the board of directors of Insel Air had not sat round the table over a cup of coffee despite Judge Van Schendel’s request to the two parties two weeks ago.

This means that the judge will pronounce judgment on 22 February in the summary proceedings instituted by Ramiz/DAE against Heerenveen/Insel Air.Ramiz and DAE instituted legal proceedings against Heerenveen and Insel Air after Heerenveen’s disputed remarks during the Bo Tra’i Merdia program on TeleCuraçao. In the interview, Heerenveen supposedly declared that Ramiz could be blamed for the bankruptcy of the Venezuelan airline company Aeropostal, that numerous parties on Curaçao – including former employees of Aeropostal – are duped as a result of Aeropostal’s downfall and Ramiz’ actions, and that several former Aeropostal employees had not been paid for six months.

Judge Van Schendel had given Heerenveen and Tamiz two weeks to see if they could solve their disputes ‘over a cup of coffee’. If not, he would pronounce judgment on February 22nd.

Despite the fact that shortly after the session, Ramiz had handed his business card to Heerenveen and his lawyers, he was constantly unreachable since then, said attorney Mirto Murray, who represents Insel Air in this case. They also tried to set a date for a conversation through the DAE’s attorneys, however to no avail. From his residence abroad, Ramiz stated yesterday afternoon that he prefers a judgment.

The judge was not the only one who preferred both parties find a solution for their disputes round the table. Also the Minister of Economic Development, Abdul Nasser El Hakim had explicitly requested the two airline companies to sit round the table, considering the missed range of possibilities for Curaçao.
