2007 annual report Soab (government accountants' bureau)

The inquiry into the financial position of public enterprises and the possibility to pay dividend to the island territory didn’t get off the ground last year, mentioned Soab (government accountants’ bureau) in her 2007 annual report. The reason for this is the government’s slow provision of financial information.
The then commissioner charged with public enterprises requested the inquiry. It can be assumed that the above commissioner is Nelson Pierre (NPA), since no specific commissioner is assigned for public enterprises in the new BC that took office in July of last year. In his career, Pierre has repeatedly made out a case to check the financial administration of public enterprises. But this had never really gotten off the ground in practice. In her annual report Soab considers the question why this didn’t happen.
The inquiry had to aim at a total analysis of the financial position of the public enterprises with the objective to optimize the asset management of these businesses and also the consideration of paying dividends. “The carry on of this inquiry, due to the businesses’ slow provision of the required financial information, has held-up the inquiry, and is not finished up until this day.”
Soab continues mentioning in his annual report the recurring audit orders of among others the Gaming Control Board (GCB), Fundashon Wega di Number Kòrsou (Curacao Lottery, FWNK), Core nv, ArboConsult, and StIP that were performed in the report-year. The audit of the annual accounts of GCB and Core are done in 2006, StIP’s in 2007, and ArboConsult’s in 2003 and 2004. They expect to start and finish the audits of 2005 and 2006 in 2008.
