Venezuelan investors reported with OM

The Venezuelan lawyer Carlos Ramirez Lopez filed a report yesterday afternoon with the Public Prosecutor on fraud by local politicians with the sale of a terrain at the Caracasbaai to a Venezuelan investment group.
Local lawyer Arnold Huizing is assisting Ramirez Lopez. According to the group, they paid an amount of 450,000 dollars for the ‘long lease’ of the property in order to build and rent apartments and condominiums there. However, after having paid that amount they heard nothing. In an interview this week with TeleAruba, which TeleCuraçao simultaneously broadcasted via their newscast, lawyer Ramirez Lopez mentioned the names of FOL-leader Anthony Godett, party advisor Nelson Monte and Chris Winkel. On Aruba, amongst others politician Glenbert Croes is supposedly guilty of fraud, according to the lawyer. Through his lawyer, Croes meanwhile demanded rectification from both media, while Godett went to UTS-director Paul de Geus in high dudgeon for a two-hour conversation. The first news item with Telenotisia that evening was that Godett demanded rectification, which he did not receive.
The negotiations on the property were held two years ago, when Godett was deputy of Infrastructure. However, he denies the allegations. “The Board of Governors has a collegiate administration; I could never have granted such a terrain on my own”, he declared amongst others before this newspaper.
Lawyer Ramirez Lopez presented several documents with this report. It is now up to the OM to investigate the report.
Several years ago, Godett, Monte and Winkel were placed in solitary confinement for their share in the fraud with the former Post NV. Godett returned to politics after having served his time of well over six months.
