Inmate shot dead in prison St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG - A prisoner was shot dead by another inmate just after 9:00am in Pointe Blanche Prison. The victim was said to be Omar Jones. He was shot in the back, head and neck.
 
There was no immediate word on the shooter or the firearm used. Ambulance personnel applied CPR in an effort to save the detainee’s life, but to no avail.
 
The body is still at the complex and detectives are investigating inside. Questions were already being asked as to how a loaded gun gets into the hands of a prisoner.
