Martina: promote Curaçao as boarding harbor in Europe
- May 19, 2013 3:06 PM
WILLEMSTAD — The weekly visits to Curaçao of cruise ship Monarch from the Pullmantur – on Wednesdays – was officially inaugurated yesterday on board the ship. “It was a very pleasant experience, emphasizing the additional potential value of the visits to the island”, said Minister of Economic Development, Steven Martina (Pais).
“It’s attractive to offer package trips considering Curaçao serves as boarding harbor of the cruise and 50 huts are reserved for bookings from local travel agencies. For example a one-week stay on the island in combination with a one-week cruise”, said the Minister, who thinks the number of reserved huts could increase in due course. He stated that the intentions to promote Curaçao as destination on the European market could lead to a concrete marketing campaign – in collaboration with the Pullmantur.
The CTB will of course be the organizer and puller of the campaign”, said Minister Martina. Others present during the inauguration were Ghatim Kabbara, director of Curaçao Tourist Board; Tarzeno ‘Zeno’ Circkens of government agency Curaçao Tourism Development Foundation (CTDF); Humberto de Castro, director of Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) and CPA marketing-manager Dimitri Cloose.
