Committee for transfer of duties

A committee will be established to draw up a policy plan for the phased dismantling of the Land and the transfer of the Land’s duties to the island territory. The committee will consist of ministers, commissioners, and their advisors. That was settled last week during a deliberation between the Council of Ministers and the BC.
No decisions could be made during the deliberation about the dismantling, because the Land still had to discuss this with St. Maarten. It was settled though that when duties/services are transferred, it happens in conformity with the guidelines of the island territory of Curacao and not that of the future Land Curacao. In connection to this, Commissioner Zita Jesus-Leito (General Affairs, PAR) mentions that the concept-National Ordinance Organization Land-government (LOL) must be approved by the Island Council early next year.
The interpretation of the civil service of the future Land Curacao must take shape based on this ordinance. Everything is aimed at letting the new Curacao commence effective the beginning of 2010. The conversation between Land and island territory that started at 09:00 and lasted till 17:00, also served as preparation for the Governmental Deliberation in St. Maarten on November 24.
