New governments Curaçao and Sint Maarten

WILLEMSTAD/PHILIPSBURG - The new countries within the Kingdom, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, both have their own government, their own parliament and their own Governor.

The official installation took place sunday morning.

 

This is a consequence of the elimination of the Netherlands Antilles on 10 October 2010. The Governor of Curaçao, Frits Goedgedrag, Governor of the Netherlands Antilles until Saturday. On Sint Maarten former airport-President Eugene Holiday has been appointed Governor.

Curaçao has a new governement under the guidance of Gerrit Schotte, who leads a coalition of MFK, Pueblo Soberano and MAN. Sint Maarten has a coalition of UP Party and the DP led by Sarah Wescot-Williams.

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Roeland Zwanikken at St. Maarten’s BZSE law office is considering legal action against the intention of the Dutch ABN AMRO Bank to close the bank accounts of its clients in the Dutch Caribbean.
